As the previous existence of China Machinery & Electronic Products Exhibition Center , the precursor of Chinamex, was the joint-project between Chinese government and Sharjah government of U.A.E, which was officially opened in Sharjah on 1st April, 2000. The establishment of China Machinery & Electronic Products Exhibition Center symbolized the birth of Chinamex.

During the visit of the State Council vice Premier Wu Yi in the Middle East in year 2000, she renamed China Machinery & Electronic Products Exhibition Center into Chinamex. Chinamex was officially established. With the support of vice Premier Wu Yi and relevant government organizations, Chinamex started to extend its business range and was designated with the mission of helping Chinese enterprises with implementing go-global strategy, the creation of internationalized brands, and the development of diversified exporting market for Chinese products. From then on, Chinamex hit the road to help with the internationalization of Chinese enterprises, which is also the core business of Chinamex during last ten years.

In year 2009, Chinamex initialized the concept of City Internationalization based on the concept of enterprises internationalization. Chinamex aims at establish the economic and trade cooperation between Chinese and overseas cities, in order to discuss and realize the overall cooperation in trade, project, technology, brand, exhibition, and enterprises bridging fields.
